Goal Planning Strategies

Identifying, selecting, setting, and planning goals with families in home visiting is a collaborative process that has the potential to increase family engagement in home visiting services. The objective of this training is to use motivational communication strategies to enhance goal planning strategies in home visiting. This two-day training focuses using motivational communication strategies to enhance the goal setting, planning and implementation process. We introduce and practice advanced skills, including negotiating goals and providing appropriate feedback to families.

In addition to the two-day training, skills-focused coaching will be implemented to increase the retention of motivational communication and goal setting, planning, and implementation skills.
