Screening

Paragraphs

Introducing the Screen

Make sure that you have privacy when screening for substance use. Remember, it’s important to preface the screening in a way that makes the client feel at ease.

“I was hoping to ask you some questions about your past and current substance use today. These are questions that we ask all of the people that participate in our program because we find that it is a common issue. I am not here to make any judgements about your past or current use but rather to provide support. All of your answers are confidential.”
