Our Commitment

Paragraphs

Dear Partners,

We recognize that anti-Black violence and discrimination inflict a heavy toll on the lives, health, and mental
health of our Black partners. The UMBC Home Visiting Training Center stands with you in support of systemic change in our country to remove social inequalities for Black and Brown individuals.

While expressing solidarity is important, what is most important is what we do as an organization in the weeks and years ahead to demonstrate our commitment and dedication to becoming better and more active allies. We will take the following three steps:

1) We will commit to engage in self-reflection on our trainings and activities and seek out consultants
to help us center them more fully on structural issues in society that perpetuate racial disparities.

2) In our Training Certificate Program, we will prioritize cultural sensitivity more fully by moving that
content toward the beginning of the training process and enhance those themes throughout
subsequent training days.

3) Over the course of the coming years we will increase the racial/ethnic diversity of our training staff.
